Have you ever looked out into the night sky and wondered, “Why isn’t it light at night, if the sun’s rays shine so bright?” I mean, if the sun is the source of light, then shouldn’t we always see its rays of sunlight, even in the night sky, as they race right on by us? Why is there darkness when there is so much light around?

These are the questions of the mystic. The interaction between the Earth’s atmosphere and the Sun’s energetic rays create what we inhabitants see as light. And since light only travels in straight lines from the sun, our eyes can’t catch the rays while we are in the shadow of our planet. From twilight to sunrise, we see the increasing glow of the light of earth’s sun-facing side that is dancing with the sky molecules until we can get the direct rays of our sun into our eyes. Then, at the end of the day from sunset to twilight, we bid the dimming light farewell until the next promised return.
These eyes of ours, when working as designed, catch the contours and shadows of all objects, and their spectrum of colors. Eyes are made from elements that come from the Earth. The muscles that allow us to move them, the bones that house them, the brain that controls them, and the skin that surrounds them … are all made up of Earth-stuff. In essence, we are animated beings in earthly bodies, and it’s something to think about! It’s important to remember from where these beautiful vehicles we call bodies come from. We are inextricably linked to the environment where we live, and to keep ourselves healthy we must do the same to the environment. Our health can only be as good as the health of our Home.

The Earth blesses us every day. She cleans our water; She filters the air; She provides the soil to grow our food. These are the daily gifts we are given. If treated properly, the Earth can provide, in plenty, for every living being on the planet. So, for today, we can make a pledge to do better.
Today, I promise:
- To no longer litter
- To reduce the waste that is created
- To recycle reusable resources
- To think of ways to support nature
- To be thankful for what the Earth provides
Understanding that the Earth is sick brings awareness to why things are so wild in the world today. The weather disasters are like flu symptoms sweeping across the planet. We are directly affected by the health of our ecosystem. We have the power to continue to slash and burn; or we have the power to bring healing energy to the planet. We are a big part of the problem, but with changes in thoughts and actions, we will then be a big part of the solution.
Ideas are needed to promote the planet’s health. I propose some solutions:
- Connect the currencies: If we tie the health of the environment to the national currency, and have regular votes on the state of its health, our motivations will automatically change to promoting products and services that clean things up.
- Social media with a soul: Data is our human resource in the Information Age. We can earn income from our data. Focus groups can help companies develop new items for a sustainable economy. We can connect companies and consumers to contribute to what we want to grow.
- Poverty elimination: Economies thrive when more people can participate. Incentive programs that are humanly kind and cleverly designed will eliminate poverty everywhere.
These are three simple concepts that I have developed, but need help to continue. The time has come to bring ideas like these to the mainstream. Soon will come a time when we will all be needed to come together to rebuild. Let’s engage and grow some solutions. Send me a message.
